February 14 – 15, 2019 | 10 am – 12 pm
Akram Khan has developed an artistic vision that both respects and challenges tradition and modernity. His signature style is renowned for its intercultural, interdisciplinary collaborations, and with his company he has developed a significant range of works from classical kathak and modern solos to artist-to-artist duets and ensemble pieces.
The workshop will enable participants to work with Akram Kan Company’s rehearsal director, Mavin Khoo. Internationally recognized as a dance artist, teacher, choreographer and artist scholar, he is considered one of the few Bharata Natyam male soloists to have carved a niche for himself as an international touring solo artist. Trained in Cunningham and ballet, he worked as a performer pour Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan, and many others. A faculty member of the Dance Studies Department (at the School of Performing Arts) at the University of Malta, he was also appointed artistic director of ŻfinMalta Dance Ensemble, where he also choreographed and danced until 2017.
