ANGÉLIQUE WILLKIE | MASTER CLASSES

April 23 – May 3, 2019 | 10 am – 12 pm
* Exceptionally, from Tuesday to Friday the first week

Inspired by the Release Technique, Angélique Willkie’s class will focus on the sensations of weight, space, and contact with the floor. In addition, participants will focus on developing the support from the spine and on using the muscles in a free and efficient manner so that no extra tension is created other than the one really required to execute the movements. This physical class plays with the use of space, level changes, musicality and rhythm. This approach encourages an intelligent use of the physical instrument allowing participants to discover the full organic possibilities of their body.

Angélique Willkie is an artist active in the dance, music, theatre, and circus communities. Trained at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, she moved to Europe for more than 20 years. In Belgium, she collaborated in many dance projects with the Ballets C de la B, the company Karin Vyncke as well as Needcompany. As a singer, she collaborated with Zap Mama, dEUS, DAAU and Zita Swoon Group, amongst others. She also sang with the musicians Walter Hus (Spectra Ensemble), Kaat De Windt, David Linx, Fabrizio Cassol and the Ensemble Musique Nouvelles. Along with her path as a performing artist, Angélique Willkie has been a teacher at the École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels and at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.
