OUR PROGRAMS

Studio residency

The studio residencies are intended for emerging choreographers [generational or disciplinary]. Selected choreographers will be offered from 20 to 40 hours of studio time to work on their new creation.

To be considered for a residency you must :

  • be involved in a career in contemporary dance;
  • enter your work in a research perspective and questioning;
  • demonstrate an artistic quality work and a distinctive and promising choreographic signature;
  • already have presented your work to the public [minimum of two productions in a professional context];
  • use the residency time to work on a creation project.

Mentorship

The Mentorship program offers the selected choreographers 40 hours of studio time to work on their new creation. Mentorship also gives the opportunity to emergent artists to work with experienced artists.

To be considered for a mentorship you must :

  • be an emergent artist;
  • present a potential of promising artistic development;
  • have a desire to blossom on an artistic level and demonstrate the signification of the contribution of a mentorship.

Technical residency

The technical residencies in the studio Jeanne-Renaud last 2 weeks. They include :

  • 50 hours of studio per week, for a total of 100 hours;
  • A support to production during the residency;
  • Access to the technical equipment of the studio Jeanne-Renaud. Extra equipment will be charged;
  • 30 hours of technical service (set-up, touch ups, strike) in addition to the support offered by Circuit-Est’s technical team. Extra time will be charged.

Support for advanced training

Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique will be able to give full support to performers, enabling them to take part in all the advanced training activities of the 2018-2019 season for free. To be considered, you must be a performer engaged in a professional career in contemporary dance.

HOW TO APPLY?

Please, send your application file in one PDF document at the latest on March 1st, 2019, at 11:59 pm to info@circuit-est.qc.ca. Thank you for using a font size of 11 points or larger. Folders with project descriptions and videos exceeding the imposed limits will not be considered. You can only apply to one residency.

Studio residency, technical residency and mentorship

Your application must include :

  • a short text explaining why this residency would be important for you;
  • the project's description - maximum two (2) pages;
  • a list of the artists, collaborators, and partners involved;
  • the choreographer’s biography - maximum one (1) page;
  • a video excerpt [10 minutes maximum] of recent creations [optional] with Youtube or Vimeo links;
  • for the studio residencies and the mentorships, an ideal rehearsal schedule betweenJuly 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020;
  • for the technical residencies, a period must be selected among the following: July 1 to 12, 2019 / August 12 to 23, 2019 / January 13 to 24, 2020
  • the date of the performances to come, if applicable.

Support for advanced training

Your application must include :

  • a short text explaining why receiving this support is important for you;
  • biography;
  • a recommendation letter from a teacher or choreographer.
  • a videoclip of five minutes (vimeo or youtube). This excerpt can be a segment from a technical class or rehearsal class or on improvisation.
