Frédérick Gravel’s workshops are always related to his current choreographic research. This workshop will focus on an athletic and explosive body technique, on bringing the dancer’s attention to the present moment, and on accidents and risk management. Frédérick also takes interest in the dancers’ sensibility towards their presence on stage. He aspires to find a sort of dramaturgy of presence and is attentive to the relationship between dancers, in pairs or in groups. He will also share his improvisation tools in duet.
Frédérick Gravel graduated in 2009 from UQAM’s (Université du Québec à Montréal) dance faculty with a thesis on “The role of the dance artist in a democratic society’’. Choreographer, dancer, musician and lighting designer, he has been active both on the Montreal scene and internationally for the past ten years. He regularly gives creative workshops as well as teaching at Cégep Saint-Hyacinthe’s theatre department, at Université du Québec à Montréal and at École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.
