October 16 – 20, 2017 | 10 am – 12 pm
The class InnerCore will focus on the work that Helder himself has been developing over the last years whilst working with Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Ultima Vez/Wim Vandekeybus and others. Using mainly floor work and imagery, the dancers will explore an organic way of moving, focusing on elements such as kinetic force, distribution of weight, spirals, and gravity. Drawing upon their own centre and keeping an open attitude towards inner (physical consciousness) and outer (the surroundings), they will try to find a balance between what they can control and what they must let go.
Helder Seabra studied at Ginasiano (Portugal) and P.A.R.T.S. (Belgium). Between 2000 and 2003, he was involved in projects with Pedro Carvalho, Ronit Ziv and Javier de Frutos (Companhia Instável). In 2004, he joined Ultima Vez/Wim Vandekeybus and continued on as a member of the company until 2008. He danced in PUUR, Spiegel, MENSKE and the movie Here After. From January 2010 until recently, he was a member of Eastman company as a performer, choreographic assistant and teacher. He also danced in Babel(words), TeZukA and Puz/zle, and assisted Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for IT3.0 and Automaton. In 2013, in parallel, he has been developing his own work and created the dance and production company HelKa vzw.
