LÍVIA BALÁŽOVÁ [SVK] ET ZEBASTIÁN MÉNDEZ MARÍN [CRI] | MASTER CLASSES

October 5 – 9, 2020 | 10 am – 12 pm

After studying at the J.L. Bellu Conservatory (Banska Bystrica), at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance and at P.A.R.T.S. (Brussels), Lívia Balážová has worked with choreographer Rui Horta, Kubilai Khan investigations and Ultima Vez / Wim Vandekybus.

Zebastián Méndez Marín graduated from the Conservatorio El Barco, a Costa Rican school of contemporary dance. He subsequently created and danced in several companies in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belgium and Slovakia.

Lívia and Zebastián met at Ultima Vez. Their energy and their creative universe complemented each other so well that in 2015 they decided to found the Colectivo Priekopník Veverička to jointly develop and share their artistic vision.

The class offers a mix of two approaches developed by Lívia and Zebastián. Mindcross is a practice that revolves around three goals: to achieve a playful spirit, to stimulate a colorful imagination, and to discover your inner creature. The playful mind is always in a creative state. The colorful imagination guides the authentic movement and allows the exploration of the senses’ depth. The inner creature is born into a non-judgmental environment that allows instinct to take over stereotypical thoughts and movements.

The intuitive body works on the premise that we all have intuition and that we can learn with our most instinctive and deepest part. This approach aims to improve physical and creative skills, generate more authentic proprioception, reduce injuries caused by stress and overuse of muscle groups, stay focused and relaxed, and promote values such as tolerance, empathy, generosity and perseverance.
