MASTER CLASSES | Rafaela Sahyoun (BRA)

From São, Paulo Rafaela Sahyoun is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. She spirals through these roles within the ever-evolving landscape of performative practices, community, and context.

She dedicates herself to artistic and pedagogical projects that unfold and shape-shift continuously through ongoing research and shared practices. Actively collaborating with artists, researchers, students, and art institutions in Brazil and abroad, she has a strong inclination towards hybrid formats of multicultural collaborations in dialogues with multidisciplinary disciplines.

As an educator, she cultivates her movement practice "The Body The Player The Journey" in universities, higher education dance and theater schools, and both dance and theater companies.

Her most recent choreographic work, "Fôlego" (2022), was commissioned by São Paulo City Ballet (Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, BCSP) in partnership with São Paulo Cultural Center (Centro Cultural de São Paulo, CCSP) and had its 2023 season at São Paulo Municipal Theater (Theatro Municipal de São Paulo).

The Body The Player The Journey is dedicated to movement practices that access and expand a repertoire of senses linked to cognitive, subjective, and imagetic layers in each individual's learning process. 

Our exploration of movement begins by delving into the sources of our living body and its intricate interrelational systems. Within this dynamic sensorimotor network, we orchestrate the body and its relationships by scanning information from inner and outer connections.

Decoding the landscapes of the body by hacking information from the present and the space - we witness, hold space, and charge a large spectrum of shape-shifting sensations within ever-evolving decision-making instances.

Through mediums such as improvisation, scores, games, and procedures rooted in the fields of perception and mobility, we chart the multidimensional anatomy of desires. Attuned to its particularities, we cultivate an authorial and physically sustainable process.

The Body The Player The Journey set the ground for the interplay of people, moving what pulses within and between each other. An invitation to co-create with every single (multiple) participant a space for potentials, for inspiration, exchange, and support.

• Price is $10 /class. If you are not eligible to the measure Intervention-Compétences, price is $25 /class;
• Payment must be made by credit or debit card before each class.
