FULL – 5 spots per day for drop-ins
Tomislav English’s class is an exploration into his Ferus Animi // Terra Nova research, which seeks to examine the principles behind many of the actual movement techniques we have come to recognize, through the lens of evolutionary physiology, cognitive sciences and environmental adaptation. This research also seeks to better understand our mechanics, neurological function, biological processes and the physical laws, which govern our motion. It has the intention to develop a richer range of possibilities in our movement and performance practices, as well as taking anthropological and philosophical examinations of our modern habits and lifestyles.
Tomislav English‘s personal practice is informed by his ongoing movement research under the teachings of Grand Master Tae Yong Lee, Moshe Feldenkrais, Wim Hof, David Zambrano, Fighting Monkey Practice, Cameron Shayne/Budokon University, Bruno Caverna and Ido Portal, in addition to his academic research at Royal Holloway, University of London and the University of Oxford. Founder of the research collective Ferus Animi // Terra Nova, he is now a professional dancer for Ultima Vez/Wim Vandekeybus in Brussels. Before, he collaborated with several artists and companies such as Punchdrunk, the English National Ballet, Protein Dance and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
