November 20 – 24, 2017 | 10 am – 12 pm
Winifred Burnet-Smith teaches a free flow improvisation class to open the body, challenge the physicality, articulate the flesh, and connect to the emotional body. An emphasis will be put on stripping down and removing masks to express authentically. Winifred will offer up thought provoking tasks to challenge the dancers to connect deeper with their practice.
Hails from Brighton in England, Winifred Burnet-Smith trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, École supérieure de danse de Cannes and Rotterdam Dance Academy. She began her dance career with Galili Dance in the Netherlands and then went on to work with Granhoj Dans in Denmark, before returning to England to work with Russel Maliphant from 2005 to 2007. In 2007 she became a founding member of the Hofesh Shechter company and stayed there until 2016 as a dancer and as Hofesh Shechter’s rehearsal assistant. She currently works as a freelance artist, teaching workshops and re-staging his work.
