Artistic Director : Catherine Gaudet
Holder of a master’s degree in contemporary dance from UQAM, Catherine Gaudet immediately asserts herself as a choreographer with a strong personal signature. She is particularly interested in the transformations of the body generated by the ambiguity that animates the being. Through her choreography, she seeks to reveal the elusive human unconscious. She develops a physicality where the body becomes a place of resonance of the complex and contradictory sensations that roar under the flesh.
Catherine signs her first choreography in 2004 and gets noticed the two following years with Grosse Fatigue (2005), winner of the Aarhus International Choreography Competition (Denmark) and L’arnaque (2006). After taking advantage of residencies in Brussels (2010) and Berlin (2011), she produced in 2012 Je suis un autre, where she scratches a little stronger the varnish of the social facade. In 2016, besides taking a residency at Centre chorégraphique national de Tours (France), she signs with Jérémie Niel La très excellente et lamentable tragédie de Roméo et Juliette. In 2018, she creates in turn the pieces Tout ce qui va revient, combining three female solos from her repertoire, as well as The Fading of the Marvelous, a piece for five dancers, based on the figure of the circle and the hypnotic insistence of the cycle. She is back in 2020 with Se dissoudre, a creation for one performer, where she continues her research on ambiguity as a vector of sensation and evocation.
Since February 2018, she is partner at DLD (Daniel Léveillé Danse).
