LOUISE BÉDARD first made her mark as a performer, working with numerous contemporary choreographers, before becoming a creator in her own right. In 1990, she founded her own company, Louise Bédard Danse.
LOUISE’s choreographic language, often praised for its finesse, blends with her desire to depict the human in all its strength and fragility. So many worlds open up to the subjectivity of a gaze on the world. Her many experiences have brought her closer to the very essence of movement, the kind that makes sense to her and gives her all the space she needs to unleash her imagination.
The recipient of several awards, she was named a finalist in 2006 for the Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal for her piece Ce qu’il en reste, as well as in 2016 with Cartes postales de Chimère and Série solos. In 2018 Louise won the Prix de la danse de Montréal’s Performer of the Year award. She is co-founder of Circuit-Est center chorégraphique, dedicated to research and creation in contemporary dance.
