This performance bears the stamp of a vital élan, a dance at once primal and avidly complex. Eight women come together in a scenic vortex from which emerge a multiplicity of bodies and sensibilities, reflecting their identity with aplomb. This project explores in depth the relationship between their dancing bodies and music. The artist invests the abyssal repertoire of the composer Richard Wagner, sparking a dialogue between excerpts from his orchestral works and the electroacoustic soundscapes of Montreal composer Ben Shemie.

« What does an existence leave behind, and what can be truly recorded about a human being? » Mélanie Demers’ new creation pulls at the tension between the trace, legacy, and memory, versus that which ultimately remains impossible to archive. Standing against this wordless essence rises the mountain of our intimate data.

”All Hell Is Breaking Loose, Honey” is an unconventional male quartet that tackles with great candor the disarray of the North American cis man, his ridicule, his stupidity, his vanity, his excessive violence, but also his vulnerability, his confusion and his aspiration to become better. A series of vignettes and little scenes, the performance unfolds in an irresistible spiral of bodies and music, from which emerge unassuming, bewildered, out-of-phase characters, in a drunken stupor of beer and helplessness. “All Hell Is Breaking Loose, Honey” is an unrestrained, reckless plunge into the darkness of men grappling with their thousands of demons inherited from a thousand years of heavy, age-old patriarchy. A generous, rallying piece that uncompromisingly embraces the ill-being of contemporary man.

Onstage, five performers from different generations give voice to the thoughts that inhabit them whenever their bodies are set in motion. Gathered in public spaces, their memories, sensations, and reflections reveal the deeply intimate connections woven between their bodies and their ways of inhabiting the world. Certain gestures trigger fragments of voices in real time, creating new and unexpected connections between words, movements, and memories. Like a choral novel or an exquisite corpse, these voices respond to one another, overlap, and create new layers of meaning. At the crossroads of dance, storytelling, and digital arts, “(re)collecting journey” invites audiences to hear movement from within. Caroline continues her fascination with the winding paths taken together by body and thought, in contact with the places we move through. At a time when our points of reference are being profoundly unsettled, can the body become a secret refuge for all of our hopes?

RADIOMATON is an immersive and participatory installation combining dance and digital arts. This innovative work invites participants to sit inside a photo booth–style cabin, where they will be challenged to repeat aloud words from a live radio broadcast while also reproducing gestures that are teleprompted to them. Installed in an individual photobooth, and equipped with headphones broadcasting a local radio station, each “RADIOMATON” user must repeat aloud all the words heard, while imitating the gestures that are displayed on the screen. This recorded performance, mingling movements and words that do not match together, is remixed in a kaleidoscope where all the participants intersect. True sensory and immersive experience, “RADIOMATON” questions the construction of truth, media contamination, fake news and the role of the body in the perception of information.

The odyssey of a woman who allows herself to celebrate the many faces that trace back to the confines of her destiny. Louise Bédard, by capturing her image in the form of several self-portraits taken during the pandemic, has highlighted a geography of real and fictional existences at the heart of a fixed photographic rendering. She brings to life these portraits of women who reveal themselves in her own flesh as bearers of pitfalls, mutations, and futures. Each of these women grants the artist the measure and counterbalance of these motionless moments, the space of visibility from which they so often felt dispossessed. It is through the body and gaze of a woman of a certain age that they consent to leave their mark here and there. By embodying these figures and representations, this solitary woman, moved by the present moment, ventures into the physiography of existences.

A troubled atmosphere where time stretches, slow and throbbing. Four musicians, including Frédérick Gravel himself, saturate the space with hypnotic, melancholic music and song, a powerful blend of past and present influences that casts its spell. Six performers, at times in pairs, at times alone, dressed in garments both opulent and makeshift, move, dance, draw close to one another, cling, attempt seduction. They tirelessly roam this suspended living room and draw us into a long journey toward the night, where there are no more hours and no morning rising on the horizon. An inexpressible sadness of being in the world hovers, while a vital effort seeps through, the will to continue even after the shipwreck of feeling. Songs of love, yes, of collapse, certainly, but of life as well, for redemption and light are never far away.

Mōnad (from the ancient Greek “monas”, meaning “unit”) refers to the idea of a self-sufficient, unicellular organism containing multiple universes. Major player on Québec’s Hip Hop dance scene, Alexandra ‘Spicey’ Landé embodies this Mōnad. Inspired by this primary matter and energized by her symbiotic relationship with dance and Hip Hop culture, Spicey welcomes materials and sounds that form and deform, adapt and transform as they interact, featuring Jai Nitai Lotus. How can we approach different incarnations of a single life? Mōnad is a vibrant consideration of the relationships in interrelated universes, questioning the notion of eternity.

Immersive VR film, 10 minutes
The VR film “Bodies of Water” (Une eau la nuit) invites you to hold your breath and let yourself be transported and transformed by water in the company of curious individuals. As night falls, they invade a public swimming pool. These bodies of water, immersed in the watery mass, transgress the limits of their natural environment and metamorphose. They then engage in a contemporary dance that reveals them differently. The aquatic environment makes them supple and light, but also vulnerable and combative. This poetic mass, encompassing and suffocating, unites, separates, and constitutes them. ”Bodies of Water” explores the transformation of human bodies as they interact with water—a fluid and adaptable medium that simultaneously presents resistance. It takes you underwater for an immersive experience that unfolds an uncommon and otherwise inaccessible contemporary dance.
This piece will be presented with the architectural projection work Immergé·es on the facade of the the Wilder Building.

“Morceaux choisis” is a light, flexible solo designed for public spaces and adaptable to a variety of outdoor settings. At an age when women are often rendered socially invisible, the artist asserts the radical act of being seen. The piece explores the permission a mature woman gives herself to fully inhabit public space—not discreetly or apologetically, but with intensity and presence. The work challenges cultural narratives surrounding ageing, femininity, desirability and visibility. It unfolds through precise, deeply embodied choreography set to music by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Gesture becomes memory. Stillness becomes resistance. Presence becomes affirmation. Louise does not seek to conceal her vulnerability; she transforms it into strength. Here, visibility becomes a political act, ageing becomes power, and public space is transformed into a site of quiet revolution.

At the heart of 2par2 lies the universal truth that we both lose and find ourselves through our relationships. We argue, resist, seek, neglect, and endure one another, yet with humility and vulnerability, we dare to believe in connection as the only way forward. Friendships, family bonds, and romances nourish and shape us, weaving together the fabric of our lives. Can we truly live without each other? And is society itself not founded, sometimes even imposed, on the idea of sharing our lives with others? This work places relationships, in all their contradictions, at the center of its artistic exploration. Inspired by pagan processions, eleven performers chant on stage, tirelessly repeating a choral chant that resembles an insistent prayer. The scene, at first inoffensive and naïve, gradually becomes more complex, culminating in an almost psychedelic, hallucinogenic effect. With ODE, Catherine Gaudet transports us into a surreal, exalted universe, imbued with an extreme desire for harmony, coupled with palpable ambiguity. For this new creation, the choreographer offers an unclassifiable work, striking in its singularity, somewhere between sacrificial rite and pop-rock show.
