Land Acknowledgment
Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique acknowledges that it is located on Indigenous territory that has never been ceded. We recognize the ancestral presence of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) Nation, “People of the Flint,” as the guardians of the lands and waters where we gather to celebrate dance.
The lands of Tiohtiá:ke, also called Mooniyang by the Anishinaabe people, have historically been a gathering place for many First Nations, and today are home to a diverse Indigenous population as well as other communities.
In respect of the relationships with the past, present, and future, we continue to develop our awareness and responsibilities as heirs to the agreement represented by the Teioháte Kaswenta (Two-Row Wampum), recognizing ongoing relationships between Indigenous peoples and other members of the Montréal community.
