Discover the foundations of popping, a street dance style characterized by muscle contractions (“hits”), isolations, robotic movements, and body illusions, all in dialogue with the music.

Through simple, accessible exercises, DANNY POPPING and RAWSS will teach you the technical basics of popping and guide you towards improvisation. The workshop will conclude with learning a short routine and with an improvisation session, allowing you to put the concepts you’ve learned into practice.

This workshop is for people 12 to 17 years old.

ELIE-ANNE “RAWSS” ROSS
(QC)

A dedicated choreographer, performer, teacher, and director, ELIE-ANNE “RAWSS” ROSS is a leading figure in Montreal’s street dance community. She discovered popping in 2006 and trained with Montreal pioneers before continuing her development as a self-taught dancer. She has participated in numerous battles across Canada and internationally, and today stands out as one of the few women in the country specializing in this dance form.
In 2017, she joined the Symbiotic Monsters collective while collaborating with renowned institutions and artists. She has worked for Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize and has performed at various festivals, including the JOAT Festival, which she now co-directs alongside Handy Yacinthe. As a performer, she has lent her talents to many choreographers, notably Axelle Munezero, Saxon Fraser, Alexandra Landé, Emmanuelle LePhan, Martin Messier, and Myriam Allard, among others.
