Frédérick Gravel

Frédérick Gravel is a choreographer, dancer, musician, and lighting designer, known for challenging the conventions of contemporary dance by integrating influences from rock and performance.

His creations, acclaimed by critics in Quebec and internationally, are distinguished by their formal freedom and raw energy. Artistic Director of DLD since 2018, he regularly collaborates with artists from various disciplines, affirming a decidedly cross-disciplinary approach.

A founding member of the ArtGravelArtGroup (GAG), he creates productions in close collaboration with dancers and musicians. Notable works include Tout se pète la gueule, chérie, Usually Beauty Fails, and Fear and Greed, as well as projects with writer Étienne Lepage and ventures into the music scene, notably with Pierre Lapointe. Also active as an educator, he teaches at the Université du Québec à Montréal, the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, and the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe.
