Once again this year, we’re delighted to present the Crossed residencies Quebec | British Columbia. These exchanges are a unique opportunity for dance artists to work on their projects in Montréal or Vancouver, two vibrant cities on the artistic scene.

One Quebec artist will be able to go to Vancouver, and one British Columbian artist will travel to Montreal.

In partnership with The Dance Centre, they provide valuable studio time, research opportunities, and connections with local communities.

Selected artists | 2026-2027

DAVID’s approach fosters a dialogue between the foundations of hip-hop culture and contemporary performing arts. Through the body, he explores themes of identity, transmission, and a sense of belonging across communities. He now aims to deepen his choreographic research to create works that serve as bridges, guided by his core values ​​of sharing, authenticity, and human connection.

KAYA is a Vancouver-based independent performer and choreographer who recently began performing in Japan as part of a butōh project. Her choreographic work encompasses the creation of dance films as well as solos and duets, presented at venues and events such as the Dance Centre, Boombox, and the F-O-R-M festival. She seeks to create works that transform personal experience into playful, evocative worlds. She views our movement as a poetic and abstract reflection of how we live. Her solo work explores her relationship with silence and language, focusing on the physical process through which we find our words.
